Band

We attended the above event 3-9-08 which was for those who were there between 1964 & 1974. I was there first in '64 and we moved there in '65.

Below is our house we bought for $18,100. I had to borrow $400 for a down from Joe Coombs '44.

This is at 160 Sunflower if you know LHC. It has a new roof and stucco now. We sold it in 1997 after owning it for 32 years and a rental for 26 years.

Below is an aerial pix of what was called Site 6 back in the 1950's

Below is the old Site 6 boat launching ramp, I used to launch our boats here, it was real slick. To pull out our 18' Mercury inboard I had to have one foot on the gas and the other on the brake and watch the speedometer. If the needle came up you hit the brake. If the wheels spun you went backwards.

Below is an old picture of Bob McCulloch Sr and C.V. Woods, they were the main men behind Lake Havasu City. I knew Woods but not Sr.

Sr and Woods bought the London Bridge and had it transported to Havasu and rebuilt. The Bridge was built on land and then the channel dug to make the island.

Below, London Bridge as it appeared the weekend of 3-9-08

I took the pix as we were attending a Mardi Gras Party put on by the London Bridge Yacht Club.

There were some pretty good costumes at the dinner.

Above Barbara Dayton, Nancy & Noel Tamietti '41.I forgot to tell them to smile.

Above are Jim & Maryann Schulte who had invited us to the dinner and boat trip on Sat.

Below are some pix from the real early days when we were first there.

Four Connies at the LHC airport, they had a perfect safety record flying people in from the east.

Passengers arriving.

As you can see from this pix there wasn't much here in '67. The main street is McCulloch and the cross street at the shopping center is Smoketree. Below the shopping center. Arnold Plaza. Barbara worked in Claypools Market in the early days.

This is what it looked like the first time we were there. We flew over from Huntington Beach where we were living at the time. In the upper right you can see the point, which later became the Island when we put London Bridge in and cut the channel under it.

This is the banner welcoming the folks who were there 1964 to 1974

Below a shot of part of the gathering, it was in the Convention Center at the Nautical Inn. You can see there was quite a turnout.

 Below Chuck and Salli Abbott

After the party we went to our old friend Dotty Quiggle's, she died a few years ago but her son, Jim has kept the house as it was. Below Dee Griffin, Linda Quiggle, Jim's wife, Noel and Nancy Tamietti and Barbara Dayton.

Below, Jim Quiggle, Tom & Dee Griffin
