DO YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS ???

Harriet, I didn’t think my class had a link to the Monrovia High site. I have retired and am living in Williamsburg, VA at 5105 Thomas Court, Williamsburg, 23188. I will mark your site and follow what you write with much interest. Thanks.

(Then I asked for a recent picture and a brief bio, Harriet)

Harriet, I don't have a picture yet to scan. I think I look a little like Robert Redford. Left Monrovia for UC Berkeley and didn't like it because of size and didn't know what kind of career I wanted. Wrote to Coach Daniels and he suggested his school, UCSB. Finished there after marriage to a home town sweetheart (now a 45 year honeymoon) from Vinton, VA where I had moved from to attend Monrovia. Went into Army and left after 2 years for a teaching, high school principal, assistant superintendent, career in Portsmouth, VA. Have retired to Williamsburg and am enjoying flyfishing and home chores. Have two children. Sarah is an environmental chemist, and Preston Jr. owns a computer company. Have only met one "wildcat" since leaving school, Larry Shoberg (class of 53 I think), a Lutheran Minister here in Wmburg.

Was very surprised and sad to hear about Lucile Eggstaff's passing. Do you know anything about her. She is about the only girl I dated in High School, and we went separate ways about a year out of school, and I lost touch. Thanks again for the note from you and for your work on the site.

DID YOU GUESS PRESTON BURTON???

??? DO YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS ???

After graduation, I married Carol Hansen in 1956 and divorced in 1962. Carol died in the early 60's due to diabetes. I remarried in 1962 to Jo-Ann Biasotti Nutt and her two daughters Vickie and Jessie. We then had two sons, Neil and Dale. We now have nine grandkids. We moved from Monrovia in 1965 to Alta Loma (Rancho Cucamonga) when the area was all two lane dirt roads and vineyards. I have been in the thoroughbred horseracing business most of my life and usually have two or three horses in training in my nephew Scott's racing stable. I enjoyed a recent winner this summer at the L.A. County Fair. We enjoy our retirement years following the horses around the west coast race meets and trying our luck often in Las Vegas and Laughlin. We were sorry to miss the big 50th but will do our best to be at the next reunion to say, "Hi" to everyone.

Stats:

U.S. Army 1957-59.

Arcadia post office - 2 yrs.

Montclair post office - 30 yrs retired at 55.

U.S. Air Force Reserves - 25 yrs retired at 60.

Chuck Rose e-mails: Hi Harriet how are you feeling? Hey what have you heard about our 55 reunion? Hope lots of us are still around…hate to think about our ages. WOW! We are getting old. Hate to say it, but I sure am. But I still can move around. My wife and I are taking a cruise thru the Canal over Christmas and New Year , that way we don't have to have lots of people over during the holidays. OLD huh? Hope to hear back Chuck Rose

Al Kistner e-mails: Hi, everyone. Please hold my E-mails till Friday September 21, 2007 as I will be in Canada till then. Thanks! Al Kistner

Roy cooper e-mails: Hi Harriet, I just checked out the MAD page and see that you have a new pup. Also prayer does work. As for a reunion I do think It would be better for the majority, and for a larger group keeping it local and simple would work better. As for finding people, my sister Arlene will be at the 57 reunion and was wondering about Barbara Kistner. I see that you e-mail Al, but his address does not show, was wondering if you could drop him a line to drop me a note. Later, Roy

Al Bliven e-mails: Hi Harriet. How have you been? Hope you are feeling well and enjoying the weather. Nice weather so far for the begging of fall here in Nebraska. For anyone interested in the migration of the Monarch Butterfly, here are a few photos I snapped last week as they headed south to Mexico. Have a great week. Al Bliven (So sorry Al, I could not copy pictures for this column. However, let it be known…the pictures were fantastic .Four close-ups of Monarchs…Harriet)

Marlys Renfro e-mails: Well, I'll try again. I wrote and sent out a long letter describing our summer adventures, Mike's health, etc and spoke to a few people and seems it got lost in outer space. Anyway, here goes - we had a good time up on the Oregon coast - if the days got up to 70 it was a heat wave (I'm not complaining as we went there to escape the heat). Caught a lot of Dungeness crab - mmmmmmmmm delicious. Went on 2 jet boat rides - what FUN. Surf fished a few times and caught sea perch and they were very tasty. Explored the surrounding countryside - just beautiful. Mike's daughter, Julie, husband and his sister, drove up and stayed in state parks for a few weeks and my daughter, Erin and son Camerin, flew up for a week and stayed with us. We had a wonderful time with all. I'm surprised we didn't gain more weight than we did. We toured the redwoods both on the way up and coming down - so pretty and majestic. Mike had a heart attack a few weeks ago and had another stent put in. The doctors put the fear of God in him that he HAS to lose weight. So, no more full helpings of biscuits and gravy. He's doing good in eating right and so far, no complaints. We're really trying to be inventive with the food he can eat. I told Mike that I want to stay here this winter and next summer as I want to hopefully finish up this house, both inside and out. A few places are done but the majority isn't and I'm tired of living in flux. I'm going up to Las Vegas with 2 girl friends for a few days the week of 10/22. We're celebrating our 50th anniversary of when we were chorus dancers at the El Rancho Vegas Hotel. Should be a lot of fun. Then in mid Nov. I'm going to Hawaii with Erin to settle her dad's estate as he passed away last week. Mike's grandson, Austin, who's 20, races bikes and he just competed in the nationals for the oval track and came in 2nd in the nation overall and first in his age group and has been asked to tour Europe for a couple of months representing the USA. He's a likely prospect for the Olympics. His brother, Ryan, played soccer in his age group and came out beating England to win. athletic family !! And I can't forget Camerin who's playing soccer in the park and rec 6-7 year olds. Well kiddos, there's probably more but I think I've taxed your eyes enough for this time. Hope this finds you in the best of health and spirits, love from Marli and Mike. Here's to health and happiness! Marlys mouse Marli Ruffles (take your pick)

Doug Harlan e-mails: Just got a call from my son Kurt Harlan, who lives in La Habra and loves to play golf. They had just finished their round and Kurt wanted me to talk with one of the golfers who happened to play with them. As their foursome were playing the conversation, as usual, concerned where they were from, what they did, and the fact that this golfer new someone by the name of Harlan. Upon hearing from my son that his father was Doug Harlan, Bob Burns introduced himself and the connection was made. Kurt handed his cell-phone to Bob and we had a chance to talk. This took place at Candlewood CC where Bob is a member and Kurt was a guest. And of course they did not know each other prior to the round. Marion said that the MAD website was up, but I couldn't find it. Help!! Also, Bob said that Kent Herkenrath had passed and that there was a good turn out at his services. How are you doing with the new doggies? I will be going in for back surgery at UCLA next Tues, so your prayers are coveted. Love, Doug P.S. Please note a new e-mail address mdharlan@bak.rr.com <mailto:mdharlan@bak.rr.com> Thanks, Marion and Doug

Bob Overbaugh e-mails: Hey friend. Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that Ken and Judy Johnson were in the desert a week or so ago and we were able to get with them a couple of times and they are so delightful to be with. Great people. Had not seen Ken in 52 years. They both look terrific. Bob

(I feel like a yenta…hooking people up. A good feeling…Harriet)

Jaqueline Brown e-mails a Christmas greeting. From Our Home To Yours! We hope this year has been a fruitful one for all our family and friends. It has been one year since Grady has had his last Back Surgery, and he is progressing with recovery nicely, but realized that there are many things he uses to be able to do that are a thing of the past now. I am doing well with my recovery of Knee Surgery I had in June of 07', and plan to undergo the other knee in the fall of 08'. We both have many things to be thankful for, as relatively speaking we are holding our own when it comes to our health. Our only grandson Allen entered the Army National Guard after graduating from high school two years ago, and has gone through many schools within the military. He is in a unit that isn't to far from Goldsboro, NC in Benson ,NC. North Carolina has been put on alert that they will be going to the war in Afghanistan or Iraq, but shouldn't have to go before January 09'. The family seems to be doing well and we are happy for all of them. We had another Great Granddaughter this past November that has entered our family, and in the Spring there is to be another Great Grandchild to enter our flock; which will make 10 Great Grandchildren in 08' for the Little Clan. This coming summer 08' another of our 12 Grandchildren will be married in June and we plan to drive to Colorado for the wedding. God has been good to our family and has given many bountiful blessings. Our wish for all our family and friends is to love each and every day that arises to it's fullest. Life goes on and the clock keeps ticking with many wondrous things our Creator has given us. May you all have a very prosperous 2008 with many adventures to accomplish ahead! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY BLESSED NEW YEAR! FROM GRADY & JACKIE LITTLE

TALLY FOR CRUISE/NO CRUISE

"As far as a reunion in 2010 I feel that having it in Monrovia or Arcadia would be great, just like this last reunion. You did a wonderful job with it. I think that lots of folks may not want to go on a cruise but I am up for anything that sounds good, simple and fun. A lot of help I have been, right?

About a 55th reunion. I think that would be great and I hope at that time we will be healthy enough to make the trip.

I would be interested in a 55th reunion. It could a short cruise down the coast of Mexico or just a days outing to Catalina or a get together in Monrovia. Thanks.

Yes vote for a cruise for the 55th.

Yes , my wife and I would like to attend the 60th reunion ( God Willing !! ) .

Hello Harriet, I'm still up for the cruise, if that is what everyone else likes. However, if most do not want to do that I game for whatever!!!!!!! And now the walrus to speak of many things…so lets go grads and settle on our next reunion. Start talking!!!!!

As to the cruise, we haven't decided, sorry to not be of any help there.

No cruise! Let’s just get together.

We’re not up to cruising."
